Landlords with student houses make up a big slice of our calls here, and the pattern's usually the same: nobody's touched the trees in fifteen years, and now there's a dead maple leaning over the porch roof and six tenants parked underneath it. We take those down in sections. Tight village lots off Main and Utica don't leave much room for a drop zone, so it's rigging and a bucket, or a crane if the setback's bad enough.
Down by the canal it's a different animal. Those silver maples and willows along Water Street and the towpath grow fast, grow heavy, and shed limbs in a storm without much warning. Out past the village toward the Sweden farm fields there's no windbreak at all — open ground means wind loads a tree from one side for years, and you see the lean before you see the failure. We do pruning, storm work, takedowns and stump grinding on all of it, plus lot clearing when someone's finally selling the back acre.

Do I need approval to take down a tree in the village?
If it's on your own property, generally no. Street trees are a different story — Brockport has a tree board and its own street-tree list, so anything in the right-of-way or terrace strip goes through the village first. We'll tell you which side of the line your tree is on before we quote it.
Can you get equipment into a narrow village lot?
Usually, yes. We'll walk the access first — driveway width, gate, soft lawn, overhead service drop. Where a truck won't fit, we climb and rope it down piece by piece. Canal-side properties off Water Street sometimes mean staging on the street for an hour, which we coordinate ahead of time.
