Owners of the old Despatch Shops workers' houses call us more than anyone else in the village, and the reason is always the same: there's a big maple or ash sitting in a back lot with eight feet of grass between them and the neighbor. A bucket truck isn't getting in there. The rear alleys help sometimes, but not often enough to plan around. So the work gets done the older way — a climber goes up, and the tree comes down in pieces, roped and lowered over roofs, garages and fences instead of dropped.
Being one square mile on a grid cuts both ways. Staging off Main or Washington beats a rural driveway. Doing it without blocking half a block of parked cars is the harder part, and we'd rather sort that out before the saws come out.

Is the tree on my terrace strip mine to remove?
Probably not. The street trees on Elm, Chestnut and Ivy are village-owned, so removal or heavy pruning there goes through the village. Tell us where it stands and we'll tell you which side of the line it's on.
What happens to the brush and wood?
We haul it out with us. The village DPW runs its own yard-waste schedule, and piling a whole takedown at the curb between pickups isn't fair to the street. Want the rounds kept for firewood? Say so up front.
