Off Bayview and Newport, the lots fall away toward the bay fast enough that you can't just drop a tree and clean up after. We rig those downhill, piece by piece, and walk the wood back up rather than let it tear out the slope. Erosion is half the job on a bluff lot. Flatter ground off Titus and Ridge is a different animal — small postwar Capes and ranches, garages tight to the line, and RG&E primaries strung through the rear-yard easements. That's where the crane or bucket earns its keep, because there's nowhere to swing.
After a nor'easter comes off the lake, the calls run the same way every time: half-crown failures and windthrow, mostly older oaks around the Durand-Eastman and Sea Breeze end.
