Ash trees here are mostly done. Emerald ash borer went through the older village blocks hard, and streets like East Union and West Miller are where we see it most — big canopy ash standing dead over a slate or asphalt roof, brittle enough that climbing them isn't smart. Those come down off the bucket or the crane, in pieces, over the driveway. The maples on those same lots are usually salvageable with real pruning instead of a takedown.
North of the village it's a different job. Out on the muck ground, the windbreak trees around the farmsteads catch everything blowing across flat onion fields, so we get a lot of split leaders and torn limbs after a storm. Near the canal and the lift bridge, access gets tight and we plan the drop zone before anything gets cut.

Will you haul the wood away, or can I use the village brush pickup?
Either way. Village DPW runs its own brush schedule, so some people have us stack the brush curbside to fit that. If you'd rather not wait, we take it all with us.
My ash is dead but it isn't near the house. Does it still need to come down?
Depends on where it can fall. Dead ash gets unpredictable fast — it sheds limbs and the wood loses strength. If it can reach a structure, a fence, a driveway, or the road, deal with it before it decides for you.
